Part 2 of the Firefighter Jobs App

Here is the continuation of my last post for the firefighter job app CLICK HERE to take a look at the first post:

…I was doing things I thought I needed for the app and then decided that I didn’t have any structure developing it. What I decided to do was make a list of everything I needed to get done for the app before I put it on a freelancer website. I ended up going with Upwork.com which I’ve been using for some time now and enjoy it.

Some of the things that were on the list were designing the UX, warfare the app, design a logo, create an Apple developer page, features the app with have and so on.  At the end of it I had about 15-20 things to do for the app before I was able to start getting it developed.

My actual check list for the app. As you can see everything has been crossed out already.

Some of these things I couldn’t do myself so I decided to hire a couple freelancers to do some of it for me. One of those things were to design the logo. I did try to do the User interface myself but that feel through and I also decided to have that part of the app. They did keep my same layout which was nice as well. Like I said, I put the jobs up on Upwork and within a few hours, I had a handful of people submitting their requests.

I found one for each job I needed and decided to hire their team for the logo design and the design of the app (after I sketched how it would look on a piece of paper).

As they were doing those designs for me I started on the list one by one. Some were easier than others as you could imagine. The wireframe of the app took a little time but I decided to make it as basic as possible, which also made it easier for me and the developer.

Writing what info would be inside the app wasn’t too hard. It really only took an afternoon to accomplish. I would have to say what that took the longest was drawing up the designs of the app to give to the developers. I looked at countless “jobs” type apps to get an idea of what my job app should look like. I made some mistakes and had some redos but finally finished after a couple of days.

While all this was going on I decided to hire some more people to put in job interest cards for me so I can get more job offers sent to my email.

When I got both designs done I was really happy with the results. Both the logo and the design of the app looked great. I think I was just super excited to see my designs in app form. I paid both developers and I was given the designs to do with what I wanted.

That was around the time when I was finishing up the list I created for the app

It’s time to put the request for a developer…
